face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>This revolutionary move, exercised under conditions and relentless war in the Medya Defense Zones, marks a new moment for the guerilla of the Kurdish liberation movement, proving its ability <\/b><\/span><b>to turn the situation in its favor and establish <\/b><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>advantage<\/b><\/span><b> in the ongoing war.\u00a0With its tremendous revolutionary war effort in Zap and Xakurk\u00ea, <\/b><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>it<\/b><\/span><b> proved the oppressed people&#8217;s determination to fight, their strength, their courage, and their limitless creative action.\u00a0It raised the hope of the oppressed who <\/b><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>are<\/b><\/span><b> ready to fight against <\/b><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>fascism.<\/b><\/span><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\"><font color=\"#54555e\"><font face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\">The term <i>General Win<\/i>ter <span lang=\"en-US\">first arose in the context<\/span> of war and politics during Napoleon&#8217;s invasion of Russia.\u00a0In 1812, <span lang=\"en-US\">the French emperor\u2019s<\/span> army invaded Russia with a force of six hundred thousand men.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">Napoleon, however, failed to take one critical factor into account: <\/span>the winter season.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">And thus, his <\/span>ambition<span lang=\"en-US\">s<\/span> to invade Russia <span lang=\"en-US\">ultimately resulted <\/span>historic defeat.\u00a0What remain<span lang=\"en-US\">ed<\/span> of <span lang=\"en-US\">his<\/span> huge army <span lang=\"en-US\">was a force <\/span>of thirty to forty thousand people.\u00a0Not Russia&#8217;s Tsarist army, but the cold winter destroyed Napoleon&#8217;s <span lang=\"en-US\">units<\/span>.\u00a0British humorists<span lang=\"en-US\">, observing the war <\/span>from <span lang=\"en-US\">their<\/span> imperial lodge<span lang=\"en-US\">,<\/span> described the situation as &#8220;General Winter shaving the skinny<span lang=\"en-US\"> shorty<\/span>.&#8221;<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\"><font color=\"#54555e\"><font face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Since then<i>, <\/i><\/span><i>General Winter<\/i> <span lang=\"en-US\">has been established as<\/span> a special term in military history.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">It serves <\/span>as an explanatory and analytical term of the relationship between nature and war conditions.\u00a0<i>General Winter<\/i> <span lang=\"en-US\">is a factor<\/span> that <span lang=\"en-US\">can <\/span>determine<span lang=\"en-US\"> <\/span>the outcome of wars at different times and in different geographies.\u00a0Enver Pasha, <span lang=\"en-US\">blind in terms of military strategy <\/span>and <span lang=\"en-US\">unable to recognize frosty conditions<\/span>, led a hundred thousand imperial <span lang=\"en-US\">Ottoman <\/span>soldiers into the war against Russian tsarism towards the Caucasus.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">There<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">the conditions of <\/span><i>General Winter<\/i> <span lang=\"en-US\">mowed down a huge army <\/span>in the Allahuekber<span lang=\"en-US\"> mountain range<\/span>.\u00a0Ninety thousand Ottoman army soldiers froze to death.\u00a0This <span lang=\"en-US\">event has since been<\/span> engraved in the <span lang=\"en-US\">collective <\/span>memory of the Turkish people as a great social trauma.\u00a0<i>General Winter<\/i> also paralyzed the largest<span lang=\"en-US\"> <\/span>army<span lang=\"en-US\"> under the Nazi regime<\/span>.\u00a0During the <span lang=\"en-US\">Second World War<\/span>, <i>General Winter<\/i> once again played <span lang=\"en-US\">a key role in<\/span> defeat<span lang=\"en-US\">ing<\/span> of the Nazi war machine at Stalingrad.\u00a0The Soviet Red Army and partisans<span lang=\"en-US\">, on the other hand, <\/span>endured winter conditions, paving the way for a historic defeat <span lang=\"en-US\">Nazi Germany<\/span>.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\"><font color=\"#54555e\"><font face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\">Natural conditions are <span lang=\"en-US\">among the<\/span> factors that affect and determine <span lang=\"en-US\">the course <\/span>war, not only in symmetrical wars waged by regular armies among states, but also in guerrilla wars against colonial occupation states.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">The<\/span> army that &#8220;cooperates&#8221; best with the geographical and seasonal conditions, that is, <i>General Winter<\/i>, <span lang=\"en-US\">swamps<\/span>, <span lang=\"en-US\">jungles<\/span> or <span lang=\"en-US\">deserts<\/span>, wins the war.\u00a0Guerrilla wars are full of countless data and experiences of utilizing the power of nature in the highest and most creative way.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\"><font color=\"#54555e\"><font face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\">In <span lang=\"en-US\">this<\/span> unequal war of <span lang=\"en-US\">David against Goliath<\/span>, the <span lang=\"en-US\">people\u2019s <\/span>guerrilla forces have managed to make maximum and creative use of <span lang=\"en-US\">their environment <\/span>in technical and tactical terms.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">Guerilla movements have historically achieved strategic and tactical success by relying on nature and using it as a tool against their enemies.<\/span> Looking through the mirror of 20th century guerrilla wars, <span lang=\"en-US\">reveals<\/span> that natural conditions are decisive and characteristic <span lang=\"en-US\">aspects<\/span> of guerrilla warfare.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\"><font color=\"#54555e\"><font face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\">The Vietcong&#8217;s defeat of the US army in the swamps of Vietnam <span lang=\"en-US\">is an example of<\/span> the<span lang=\"en-US\">  harmony and mutual reinforcement <\/span>of natural conditions and the Vietcong guerrillas.\u00a0Another <span lang=\"en-US\">such <\/span>example <span lang=\"en-US\">are the<\/span> FARC and MLN guerrillas <span lang=\"en-US\">of the<\/span> Colombian jungles, <span lang=\"en-US\">which they turned into effective trenches and shelters<\/span>, stopping and striking the regular army<span lang=\"en-US\"> of Colombia<\/span>, and <span lang=\"en-US\">establishing<\/span> liberated zones.\u00a0The presence of the <i>New People&#8217;s Army<\/i>, led by the <i>Communist Party of the Philippines<\/i>, in the jungles of the Philippines also embodies a similar reality.\u00a0In short<span lang=\"en-US\">:<\/span> mountains, jungles, forests, swamps, deserts can be turned into free areas in the guerrilla wars of the oppressed against their oppressors.\u00a0With other favorable conditions of nature, regular armies can be destroyed and victory can be achieved through the creative ingenuity of guerrilla warfare.\u00a0In many of the social and national liberation revolutions of the 20th century, guerrilla armies <span lang=\"en-US\">realized fruitful <\/span>experiences of the reality of nature and war.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\"><font color=\"#54555e\"><font face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\">Historical <span lang=\"en-US\">and current <\/span>experiments<span lang=\"en-US\"> <\/span>show us again and again that this <span lang=\"en-US\">stands as a valid fact<\/span>.\u00a0The guerrilla wars <span lang=\"en-US\">of the Middle East <\/span>in Palestine and Kurdistan <span lang=\"en-US\">are proponents of this truth<\/span>.\u00a0Whether we look at the urban guerrilla<span lang=\"en-US\">s in the tunnels of Gaza<\/span>, or <span lang=\"en-US\">at the Kurdish<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">guerillas fighting for their liberation attacking <\/span>the colonial army from the<span lang=\"en-US\">ir<\/span> shelters and tunnels in the heart of the <span lang=\"en-US\">Kurdish<\/span> mountains<span lang=\"en-US\">\u2014<\/span>\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">the lesson<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">we can learn from them is<\/span> that <span lang=\"en-US\">any<\/span> battlefield<span lang=\"en-US\"> <\/span>and condition can be overcome <span lang=\"en-US\">using<\/span> creative revolutionary techniques and tactics<span lang=\"en-US\">, thus inflicting defeat on colonial armies.<\/span><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\"><font color=\"#54555e\"><font face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\">The colonialist fascist Turkish bourgeois state suffered a heavy and strategically important military blow in the Medya Defense Areas in Bashur<span lang=\"en-US\"> (Southern Kurdistan)<\/span>.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">Between<\/span> December<span lang=\"en-US\"> 22 and 23<\/span>, HPG and YJA<span lang=\"en-US\">\u2013<\/span>Star guerrillas attacked the military bases of the colonialist Turkish army in the Zap and Xakurk\u00ea regions.\u00a0The <span lang=\"en-US\">Turkish forces<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">were<\/span> surrounded and <span lang=\"en-US\">shot <\/span>by <span lang=\"en-US\">Kurdish<\/span> guerrilla<span lang=\"en-US\"> fighters<\/span> from four different branches in <span lang=\"en-US\">the <\/span>Zap<span lang=\"en-US\"> region<\/span>.\u00a0In Xakurke, the colonialist Turkish bourgeois army was blockaded from eight points and its forces were destroyed.\u00a0According to <span lang=\"en-US\">statements issued by the <\/span>HPG<span lang=\"en-US\">\u2013<\/span>B\u0130M, 52 Turkish bourgeois army soldiers were killed.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">The realization of these revolutionary tactical moves was facilitated by<\/span> <i>General Winter<\/i>&#8216;s provision of sufficient favorable conditions and the guerrilla&#8217;s strong preparation, creative tactics and skillful execution ability.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\"><font color=\"#54555e\"><font face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\"><span lang=\"en-US\">It has been confirmed<\/span> that the <span lang=\"en-US\">Turkish<\/span> army<span lang=\"en-US\">\u2019s advantage<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">over <\/span>the guerrillas <span lang=\"en-US\">waded, resulting in its defeat, <\/span>when it could not receive S\u0130HA, UAV and F-16 <span lang=\"en-US\">(drone and aircraft systems utilized by Turkish military) <\/span>support <span lang=\"en-US\">during winter<\/span>.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">Usually<\/span> conducting short-term military operations in winter conditions, the colonialist Turkish bourgeois army declared a strategy of staying in occupation bases in the Medya Defense Areas during the winter<span lang=\"en-US\"> months,<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">in an attempt <\/span>to implement the strategy of becoming permanent by holding colonial occupation bases and thus immobilizing the guerrilla.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">Instead, however<\/span>, this strategy left the colonial army weak and defenseless, deprived of instant UAV, UCAV and F-16 support in winter conditions.\u00a0The revolutionary operations of the <span lang=\"en-US\">Kurdish guerilla in <\/span>Xakurk\u00ea and Zap<span lang=\"en-US\"> <\/span>dealt a blow to this weak underbelly of the colonialist Turkish bourgeois army.\u00a0Coming from <span lang=\"en-US\">beneath <\/span>the mountains through tunnels and shelters, crushing the fascist enemy<span lang=\"en-US\">, <\/span>l<span lang=\"en-US\">ike a hurricane rushing over the mountain. <\/span>The <span lang=\"en-US\">guerilla, having established its military tactics in harmony with all fours seasons and all natural conditions, aware of all the possibilities and limits of nature and geography<\/span> won a very important victory of a strategic nature.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\"><font color=\"#54555e\"><font face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\"><span lang=\"en-US\">This revolutionary move, exercised under conditions and relentless war in the Medya Defense Zones, marks a new moment for the guerilla of the Kurdish liberation movement, proving its ability <\/span>to turn the situation in its favor and establish <span lang=\"en-US\">advantage<\/span> in the ongoing war.\u00a0With its tremendous revolutionary war effort in Zap and Xakurk\u00ea, <span lang=\"en-US\">it<\/span> proved the oppressed people&#8217;s determination to fight, their strength, their courage, and their limitless creative action.\u00a0It raised the hope of the oppressed who <span lang=\"en-US\">are<\/span> ready to fight against fascism.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">It uplifted the<\/span> the resistance raised in the <span lang=\"en-US\">prisons<\/span> against the absolute isolation of \u0130mral\u0131<span lang=\"en-US\"> with the energy of the guerilla, sharpening<\/span> the accumulated anger of the oppressed against the fascist regime and <span lang=\"en-US\">increasing<\/span> their <span lang=\"en-US\">willingness and <\/span>courage to <span lang=\"en-US\">carry on and amplify the struggle.<\/span><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\"><font color=\"#54555e\"><font face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\"><span lang=\"en-US\">To hide its defeat and the blow it suffered in the Medya Defense Zones from the Turkish people, the <\/span>political Islamist fascist<span lang=\"en-US\"> <\/span>regime <span lang=\"en-US\">retaliated by <\/span>bomb<span lang=\"en-US\">ing <\/span>Rojava.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">The war crimes of a desperate colonialst Turkish state rained down on the civil infrastructure in Rojava<\/span>.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">And, once again, it <\/span>massacred civilians <span lang=\"en-US\">in the process. Erdo\u011fan <\/span>implements <span lang=\"en-US\">warfare informed by<\/span> the pain and despair of defeat in Bashur.\u00a0It attacks the DEM Party <span lang=\"en-US\">(successor of the HDP) <\/span>and Kurdish democratic institutions with <span lang=\"en-US\">arrest waves<\/span>, fuels Turkish chauvinism, and organizes fascist lynchings.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">All the while it<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">destroys the infrastructure of Rojava relentlessly<\/span>.\u00a0Just like Israel did <span lang=\"en-US\">in<\/span> Gaza and all of Palestine, it is trying to make social life unbearable in Rojava, dissolve the political structure, and eliminate <span lang=\"en-US\">its<\/span> status step by step.\u00a0Turkish colonialism uses all its war capacity, including chemical weapons, to its limits.\u00a0Despite this, <span lang=\"en-US\">it is <\/span>strategically <span lang=\"en-US\">unable <\/span>defeat the Kurdish freedom struggle and cannot move forward.\u00a0On the contrary, it is suffering tactical defeats and <span lang=\"en-US\">heavy losses at hands of the guerilla forces<\/span>.\u00a0He weakens by losing initiative, power and position.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\"><font color=\"#54555e\"><font face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\">The guerrilla&#8217;s <span lang=\"en-US\">of <\/span>Xakurk\u00ea and Zap<span lang=\"en-US\">, on the other hand,<\/span> move magnified the dilemmas of the colonial regime.\u00a0It showed that <span lang=\"de-DE\">its <\/span>crisis of rule would deepen.\u00a0CHP&#8217;s attitude after the Bashur defeat revealed an important rift between the collaborator Turkish ruling classes regarding the course of the colonial war.\u00a0Our labor<span lang=\"en-US\">ing<\/span> left movement should never remain indifferent to the given situation.\u00a0The message of resistance and struggle that the <span lang=\"en-US\">Kurdish guerilla<\/span> gives to our people must be understood correctly.\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">Concepts<\/span> that will reverse the chauvini<span lang=\"en-US\">st<\/span> campaigns of the <span lang=\"en-US\">fascists<\/span> must be actively developed, and the revolutionary struggle of the oppressed must be advanced through a united and legitimate struggle.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\"><font color=\"#c0392b\"><font face=\"Source Sans Pro, serif\"><font size=\"4\" style=\"font-size: 13pt\">*Editorial of the 148th issue of ATILIM newspaper, Voice of the Working Class and the Oppressed, dated December 29.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font> <\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This revolutionary move, exercised under conditions and relentless war in the Medya Defense Zones, marks a new moment for the guerilla of the Kurdish liberation movement, proving its ability to turn the situation in its favor and establish advantage in the ongoing war.\u00a0With its tremendous revolutionary war effort in Zap and Xakurk\u00ea, it proved the&hellip;
